I finished my fifth chemotherapy. So much so good and if there is no relapse, chemotherapy may be a thing of the past. The next treatment on line to finish with the cancer cells is radiotherapy.

I had the catheter put on Tuesday 25th and despite some events and matching scares, it is functioning well.

This last dose of chemotherapy seemed stronger. Or at least provoked different side effects: my skin got all red, full of itching pimples, more pain, usual vomiting, fever showing up sooner. I expected to write on the 30th, but I really wasn’t feeling too well. The very day I came home, I had to go back to the hospital for treatment of those side effects so I ended up postponing my engagement: sorry.

I have been home now for 4 days, going back for medication and blood tests. The data is now totally under water and the low period has arrived in full force. I know that at any moment I’ll have to go to the hospital: I realize that the small fever events I have been having are a warning sign to go isolate.

Other than that, I am well. I particularly feel some of you very close to me – despite the distance, you are near in prayer and I can feel that: God bless you. It is so good to live the presence of prayer and through it, the closeness to God.

My siblings and parents have been very sweet and go out of their way to entertain me. They must think I feel less pain because of their clowning around. I laugh, for I can see they are happy to see me laugh. As Cardinal Sean O’Malley says, the best things in life are free: a sunset, the laughter of siblings, the presence of God.
